I am not the original poster, but I also do not have SSN for my account ( and I am NOT an alien resident or otherwise). I am a long time customer, since 1993 as a fact. At time time I signed up you could not get an account as an individual, I used my husband's business name--but not Fed ID number. I have suffered through many buy outs and name changes from AT&T to Cingular, etc. Short-sighted policy changes have made any online activity almost impossible. It finally got better when I had a passcode in place. Activity uses the passcode instead of SSN. But there are still many things I cannot access.
